AEROBICS
The National Aerobic Trophy encourages swimmers to swim long distances all year around to improve health, fitness & endurance.
This ‘competition’ consists of a number of distance and strokes starting with 400m. Points are awarded according to relative fitness with the ultimate goal to achieve maximum points in all events in a year.
Individual points go towards the club’s tally for Branch and National Aerobic Trophies. Swimmers are also encouraged to keep track of the metres swum to achieve the million metre awards.
News and Results: The 2006 National Aerobic Trophy has been won for the seventh year in a row by the Sunshine Coast Club (Qld). They won convincingly over second placed Talays (Tas) with Darwin Stingers (NT) very close behind in third.
The Aerobic Award, which goes to the club averaging the highest number of points per registered member, was won by Talays (Tas). They managed to turn the tables on Sunshine Coast (Qld), with Campbelltown (NSW) third.
The Aerobic Programme was designed to encourage people to compete in distances from 400m to 1 hour in the full variety of strokes, gaining aerobic fitness along the way. Congratulations to the 84 Clubs and 1169 individuals who achieved this by taking part in this wonderful competition.
